Started our July up at the lake! We went a day early to test out the surf option on the new boat and then we had friends join us later!

While hanging on the boat we noticed a helicopter flying low and thought something was wrong at first, but then we saw it land on this property with a woman and a dog getting out. I mean what a next level private helicopter entrance!

All the kids attempted to surf and Shep actually did the best. It’s going to take lots more practice, but hopefully we’ll get there. The wave is definitely way better on the new boat!

The Lowry’s drove up that afternoon and we headed to the General Store to watch Roger Creager in concert!

We’re not technically allowed to pop fireworks in our neighborhood, but I’ve never been much of a rule follower. Just a few roman candles on the golf course to celebrate 250 years of America was the perfect end to our awesome holiday weekend with friends!

We drove straight from the lake the next day to Round Rock for our annual “Moms and Kids” Kalahari trip!

Grace and I got to the water park first to save some tables!

Then (most of) the boys joined us later!

Of course the moms ended up at our usual hang out…the outdoor swim up bar!

Ellis’ anxiety was too high for her to make it down to the waterpark, but I’m proud of her for even coming. She was content hanging in the room, crocheting, watching YouTube and relaxing. I’ve learned to accept her limits, but I still push her to come out of her comfort zones as much as I can so she can experience life with the rest of us!

After a day at the water park we opted for room service and the World Cup for dinner!

Then we ventured downstairs for dessert….

….and the arcade! Ellis’ happy place!

Our besties made it into town bright and early the next day! Julie has territory in Dallas and brought the kids along to hang out while she got some work done! Wednesday was the “girls day”, so we of course started out squishy hunting at Five Below…

….then went clothes shopping at their favorite store to get matching outfits for our upcoming trip!

Next up was matching mani/pedis! These girls aren’t spoiled at all!

Ended our girls day at Texas Roadhouse for Maddie’s first time trying it!

The next day was the “boys” day and we woke up bright and early to get to Six Flags an hour before opening to try and be first in line to ride the brand new Tormenta Roller Coaster— the first ever inverted drop and 4th highest and fastest coaster in the US! Unfortunately, my car had other plans and started overheating on the freeway and eventually shut off, when we were just 20 minutes from the park. I had to pull over to let it cool off and then cranked the heater up, rolled the windows down, and coasted 20 miles an hour all the way to the park. There was no way I could let those boys down!

We made it safely into the parking lot, and my night in shining armor (Adam) had a mobile mechanic already in route to meet me.

I walked these very eager boys into the park a little after opening. They weren’t first in line, but we still made it for opening day!

I went back to the parking lot to meet the mechanic and watched the craziness that is called “The Tormenta” from there…

…Heck no!!!!

Speaking of famous YouTubers, they knew one of their favorite ones was going to be there, and were REALLY hoping to run into him! Not only did they run into him, they also made his YouTube page!!

We stayed from open to close, because it literally took that long for them to fix my car. Thankfully, $1,200 later it was safe to drive home. They also wanted to ride the Tormenta in the dark though, so it worked out great! It was definitely an epic day!

The very next day we woke up bright and early (again) and headed to the lake for our 2nd annual DimGuijosMon cousin weekend!

Ellis and I left straight from the lake to drop the boys off at summer church camp for the week! After Ellis leaving on the first day of camp last year, I told her we could use the money we typically spend on camp, and her and I could take a girls trip! Adam stayed up at the lake for a guys golf week, so it was a win, win, win for all of us!

But first, I had to celebrate my BFF’s 49th birthday, with a dinner out back in McKinney!

After dinner, Ellis and I snuggled up in my bed (since Adam was at the lake), and although Ellis was having a little bit of anxiety, she quickly fell asleep (thanks to some Benadryl). Unfortunately, she didn’t stay asleep, and woke up in the middle of the night with a full on panic attack. She was insistent there was absolutely no way she was going to be able to leave the house and get on a plane to go on our girls trip. We decided on Florida for a trip and even convinced our besties, Julie and Maddie, to join us. Flights were booked to 30A and plans were set after nearly a year in the making. I tried absolutely everything I could think of to talk Ellis off the ledge. We went through every single one of her irrational fears, from being eaten by a shark, to getting kidnapped, to a tsunami. I even woke Adam up at the lake to try and talk to her and gave her some rescue anxiety meds. Nothing was working and she couldn’t stop crying and apologizing. We were both crying. I even said we could drive if that made her feel better. Sweet girl kept saying she was the worst child in the world and cost us so much money. She insisted she was going to crochet all week so she could sell a bunch of stuff to pay us back. Of course we reassured her it was okay.

Adam canceled our flights and was thankfully able to get credits for them. There were a few other flights leaving that day, so Maddie sent us some pictures from the condo when she got there (her and Julie flew out of Houston), hoping to convince Ellis to get on another flight….

Even that didn’t work, but Ellis went to sleep that night saying she might (heavy on the might) change her mind in the morning. I told her the very last option was to catch a 7:30am flight the next morning, but in my heart I knew there was no way in the world that was going to happen. I’ve never been to a beach in Florida and I was so looking forward to going, but more importantly, I wanted this for Ellis. I wanted her to conquer her fears, because I knew she’d regret it for the rest of her life. I set my alarm for 4:30 AM and said a little prayer before going to bed. I was expecting the worst but hoping for the best. Sure enough when 4:30 came around, Ellis was not having it. She said she was too tired. I half heartedly tried to convince her anyways and told her she could sleep on the plane. I got up to use the restroom and was about to crawl back in bed to go back to sleep when I hear Ellis listening to this AMAZING video Maddie made for her the night before and sent to her in the middle of the night for her to wake up to. This video right here was the sole reason Ellis was able to get out of bed and “try” to go to the airport. There was no way I was rebooking the flight until we made it to the airport, but oh my goodness, much to my surprise and utter disbelief, we were on our way!!!!!!!!!

We left the house by 5AM and made it to the ticket counter by 5:45. This is where the real adventure begins, so buckle up for a little story time. We were told they couldn’t use our flight credits at the counter and we’d have to call the American Airlines reservation line to book over the phone. Our flight wasn’t until 7:30 so we still had plenty of time. After waiting almost 30 minutes on hold we were then told you couldn’t book over the phone if the flight was departing within two hours of booking. Annoying, but whatever, back to the front desk we went. It was now nearly 6:30 at this point, with the flight leaving at 7:30, so I was starting to panic a little. We didn’t have to check bags, so I thought we’d still be okay. I decided to just pay for one way tickets and use the credits for our return flights, and I shit you not, my only credit card will not swipe. They tried multiple computers and even cleaned the swiper thing and nothing was working. Apparently they can only take credit cards, no cash (not that I had cash), and they don’t have the ability to type in a freaking credit card number into the freaking computer (due to fraud) they can only swipe.

She lets me know that half a mile across the airport there’s an ATM, but tells me there’s no way I’d have enough time to get there and back and still make my flight. I said, “oh yeah, watch this”! I take off my flip flops and I run, leaving Ellis almost in tears. I seriously had no idea how out of shape I was. I was huffing and puffing and almost died, but I was determined. Ellis even called me mid run on my way back wondering what the heck was taking so long, and I was so out of breath all I could muster was, “I can’t talk” and hung up. The lady told me the one way tickets would cost $576, so I got $600 out. I run straight back to the counter, shoes still off, and cash in my hand, and she very frustratingly tells me they can’t take cash, remember?? NO I DON’T FREAKING REMEMBER, I’M OBVIOUSLY IN CRISIS MODE!!! She tells me I have to go to this other machine around the corner that converts cash into a credit card. You have got to be kidding me!!!!

Of course the ATM only gave me $20 bills, so I put $600 worth of $20 bills one. bill. at. a. time. I can’t emphasize how excruciatingly slow this was. It was pure torture. I finally get the credit card, run back to the counter, still out of breath, cutting everyone in line and shove the card in her face. Here comes the best part… apparently after ALL the ATM and credit card conversion fees there is only $574 left on the card and the flights are $576. I was seriously about to LOSE IT!!!!! Praise the Lord, she finally showed me some mercy and waived some stupid fees and booked the flights!!

Oh, but that’s not all…at this point it’s nearly 7 so she couldn’t book the 7:30 flight anymore, and had to put us on the 12pm flight and told us we could try and get on standby. I think there is no way we’re getting on this flight, but my adrenaline is still pumping, so I grab our boarding passes and tell Ellis to get ready to run. I don’t really ask, but tell the guy at the front of the long security line (that’s right we haven’t even been through security yet) that we have to cut or we’ll miss our flight. Thankfully he lets us, so under the ropes we go and make it through the metal detectors. The guy tells us we still have 30 minutes and can probably still make it if we have no liquid or sharp objects in our bags. I assure him we don’t, so I seriously think the universe hates us, when I see Ellis’ bag moved to the TSA check line. Oh my gosh, she forgot about her crochet hook!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Not only that, there are two other people whose bags got flagged ahead of us. When they FINALLY get to her bag, it’s not even her crochet hook that’s the culprit, apparently her stuffed animal has beads in them that resemble explosives. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Okay 20 minutes to take off now (not boarding, actual take off). Of freaking course the gate is all the way down, around the corner and all the way down on the other side of the freaking world. Ellis and I are both running as fast as we can. I have blisters and we’re both sweating. I get a little bit ahead of her and tell her to meet me at Gate B37. When I realize we have to turn left, I worry Ellis won’t follow the signs so I wait for her to catch back up with me. I’m not seeing her anywhere and start to panic even more. Finally I spot her walking and crying. She said she stopped at B27 (not B37) and got scared because she couldn’t find me. I consoled her for half a second and said I know she’s tired and anxious, but we can’t give up now, we’re so close, when in my head I’m actually thinking they have for sure closed the doors and there is absolutely no way in the world we are making this flight. I have no idea why I don’t just give up, but I don’t. I got Ellis to the airport , and by golly I was getting her to Florida!!! We FINALLY make it to the gate at 7:20 (10 minutes before take off), and mind you, we’re actually on the noon flight and trying to do stand by.

I promise you with everything I have this lady at the gate was an actual angel. I thought she was going to laugh in my face or tell me I was crazy, but no, she punches in a few things on the computer, prints out new boarding passes for us, and lets us on the flight!!!! HALLELUJAH! I think I took my first actual breath in over a hour.

Not only that, but the flight is pretty much empty, so Ellis and I have seats together!!! I was convinced that was a whole other battle I was going to have to fight. I really thought I was dreaming as we buckled our seat belts and could not stop smiling!!! Never in my wildest dreams do I actually think we would be on that flight!! Looking back, I really do think God orchestrated everything perfectly us. We were in panic mode so Ellis had no time to overthink things, and I was running around like a mad woman and couldn’t console her even if she was. Plus, this showed Ellis that she can do hard things and roll with the punches when things don’t go our way.

Then it was back to the beach!

We stayed in Seagrove, because it has one of the only two high rise condos along 30A, right on the beach. The other beaches, Seaside, Rosemary, Watercolor, Alys, etc. are all just a short golf cart or bike ride away. They banned condos in the 80’s to preserve the integrity of the beaches. I get it, but it sure was nice to have such good beach access and we had an incredible view from our balcony!

The girl that was waking in the middle of the night with nightmares of getting eaten by sharks, ran right into the ocean to jump waves on her boogie board!!!

We had to check out of our rooms, and were planning to hang by the pool until it was time to head to the airport, but unfortunately, the pool was closed for maintenance. Thankfully, the girls still found some entertainment in the gym, lol!

So sad to leave our besties whose flight to Houston took off 15 minutes before ours, but SO SO grateful we actually got to experience this beautiful, magical, wonderful, whirlwind of a trip that I never believed was actually going to happen!

Pajamas and skincare in the airport because our 4:52pm flight was delayed 8 hours!!! Apparently our pilot had clocked in too many hours in flight after some bad weather delays, and it took them that long to find us another pilot. I hope our traveling nightmare “adventures” reassures Ellis that she can overcome anything and face her anxieties head on! Sweet girl just wanted to be home after 10 hours in the hot and stuffy airport.

Meanwhile, while we were in Florida, the boys were having a blast at summer camp!!!

I live for these letters they get to send us mid week!! I never worry about Brooks, I always know he’s going to have a great time!

Shep hurt his neck on the tube at the lake the day before I dropped him off at camp, so I was glad to know it was feeling better. He was anxious about not knowing anyone, so I was also glad to know he was making new friends!

We get to send the boys two letters and they get to send us two back. I was so sad, but not surprised that I didn’t get a second letter from Shep.

I got to pick the boys up bright and early on Saturday morning after a week of being gone. All I wanted to do was grab them and go so I could hear all about their week, but we have to do these crazy closing ceremonies first. I have no idea how these counselors still have so much energy!

The counselors always say a few sweet words about the campers and give them some “character qualities” that are always so spot on! His bunk mates also said Shep was their favorite and he was the funniest in the cabin!!

Closing prayer to end a fantastic week spent worshipping, fellowshipping, and having tons of fun!

The teenagers are at a completely separate camp a few miles up the road and they’re way too cool for a closing ceremony. His counselor said some pretty awesome things about our Brooksy though. He said he he could always count on him to show respect and participate and he was blown away by his biblical knowledge! Always so proud of him!

After camp we drove home and the boys went straight the Stolarski’s for Connor’s 12th birthday pool party. They ended up pulling an all nighter at an impromptu slumber party after the pool party and couldn’t hang at church the next morning, lol. It was pretty funny watching Brooks try and keep his eyes open.

Shep had no shame and just straight laid his head in my lap.

We had a few days in between trips, which was just enough time to squeeze in a little back to school shopping!!

I’m just the chauffeur, clothes holder, with the wallet. Nobody even notices I’m there or cares about my opinion, lol

Are you tired yet? These three are, and yes, it’s still July! Heading to our last trip of the month and my “Happy Place”— the Frio River!!!!!

We made it! So thankful to these two for bringing us to this magical place all those years ago, and so darn grateful the tradition lives on with our families now!

Also grateful for these two for making sure we’re fed, but mostly, shoutout to Joanne— NONE of this would be possible without her!

There were torrential downpours the week before we arrived, which made for optimal floating conditions! Best rapids in years!! Happy Hollow Float to get us started!

Wish I could describe the feeling this river gives to me. Peace is the best word that comes to mind!

The Happy Hollow float usually ends right after the cliff, but the river was flowing so fast they extended the float to the 1050 bridge to make it longer. I haven’t been to this bridge and I can’t remember how long! Poor Sheppy got knocked over and sucked under, but thankfully he was okay. I remember getting sucked under this exact waterfall 30+ years ago and the fear I felt.

Love that my babies love this river as much as I do! Unfortunately, Adam had an important work call and couldn’t join us on this float.

Day 3 was our chill day at the house! We were supposed to go into Garner, but the day passes were all sold out.

We got our annual Family Washer tournament started!

After a while a few people decided to go on another float. We aired up all the tubes we had and dropped everyone off at 7 Bluffs instead of paying for a bus this time. There wasn’t enough tubes for me to join, so I let Adam go since he missed the float from the day before.

After the float it was time to get back to the washers tournament!

Then we headed back down to the river by the house, for those that didn’t get to go on the float, to chill for a bit!

Makes my heart burst to see these two still getting to come to this river, even though they swear every year will be their last year. There’s just something about it that keeps you coming back!

It was so cute watching Shep scoot around the dance floor. He said the song was so long and he thought it was never going to end. When I was teaching him how to two step earlier in the night, he was like, “you just keep doing that over and over again?” I think the two step is a little too boring for him, lol.

These two cuties were just chilling on the porch while the rest of us were loading and packing cars!

Hundl Family Frio Trip 2026 was a blast and this little cowboy can’t wait to go back again next summer!

The day after we got home it was back to business for Ellis. She did so good with her infusion— no anxiety and only a very minor migraine. Always so proud of this warrior!

Her sweet nurse surprised Ellis and took her to Starbucks to meet up with her daughter and a bunch of friends that go to Ellis’ middle school!

All of these girls are always so sweet to Ellis (for the most part), and I just pray she finds her place and her people/person next school year.

Her friend that she talks to through text but never gets to see.

So glad Ellis has this memory! It really brightened her day and made her excited for 7th grade!

Shep also came out of his comfort zone and hung out with some new buddies! They’ve got some serious skills with these trick shots!
