Boys got fresh haircuts to get ready for Back to School!

Shep finally got the lightning stripe he’s been wanting….

…and even though you can’t really tell, Brooks got almost 3 inches cut off his hair!

We made one last summer trip to the lake before school started. The Cisneros’ and Uncle Joe and his new girlfriend (Gina) and her teenage son (Brock) joined us this time!
The guys….

The girls….

Heading to the lake…

Uncle Joe is a big kid!

We typically stay one extra day at the lake after all of our guests leave to clean up the house and put the boat back in storage. As much as we LOVE having friends join us, that one day with just our family is SOOOOO awesome!

The kids get to wakeboard and not have to take turns on the tube with so many other kids!

Shep is getting there, he’s just so darn skinny, lol…
Those freckles and those beautiful blue eyes get me every time!

Brooks and Ellis mastered wakeboarding one handed and going over the waves without falling!

I just love watching them surf and LOVE that they get to grow up doing this!
Got home from the lake house and went straight to
“Meet the Teacher”

Shep got one of our favorites for second grade, Mrs. Maughan! She was Ellis’ teacher for 1st and 2nd grade!

Ellis’ got Mrs. Cottone for her 4th grade homeroom teacher (Brooks’ HR teacher from last year), but will also have Mrs. Hamill and Mrs. Parker as switch teachers.

Brooks got everyone’s favorite teacher, Mr. Carrol, who also happens to be from Houston and a huge Astros fan and the only male teacher in the school! Brooks also has Ms. Lamica, and Mrs. Gullickson as switch teachers!

Ice cream treat with our friends after “Meet the Teacher”! Sweet Lydia will be in kindergarten this year!

I’m not sure how many summers in a row this is, but Brooks ended up with another outer ear infection right before the start of the school year. Poor buddy was in a lot of pain.

My “Mom Hack” is taking the back to school pics with the board and the videos the day before the first day of school. It’s a lifesaver for this “non morning peeps” family!
Ellis of course picked out her first day of school outfit, high top sneakers, and hair do all on her own. I love her style and confidence and how she just rocks it! Ellis was definitely the most excited to get back to school!

Brooks stayed with his usual super hero shirt on the first day of school. He looks so grown up to me. His last year of Elementary school has definitely given me all the feels. I just love him so much and I’m so proud of the awesome kid he is!

Our little handsome stud has grown so much academically and physically! He now towers over his big sister and is almost as tall as Brooks. I’m so excited he finally got into the dyslexia program and can’t wait to watch him soar this year!

We take the group pic on the actual first day of school since I do the individual photo sessions all throughout the day the day before, and I make them change clothes immediately after the session. You never would’ve known if I didn’t tell you. Yes, I know, I’m a genius! I love these three with my whole heart! They are by far my greatest accomplishment and biggest blessings!

Reminding Daddy where they go to school and what grade they’re in. Just kidding–– hehe 🤓

Here we go…

…And they’re off!!! Go be a light my babies!!!

Got these pics from Shep’s awesome teacher throughout the day!

And yes of course I went to breakfast with my “Favorite Wilmeth Mamas” right after drop off–– would you expect anything less?

I also went on a loooooong walk around the neighborhood with my besties! Not pictured was Bloody Mary’s for lunch with Anne Marie and Morgan (my golf club, book club, swim team mama friends)!

First day of school cookie cake tradition was ordered and picked up and waiting for the kids when they got home from school!

Ellis had a great first day, but she was in tears because she was exhausted and didn’t want to go to gymnastics. This trooper has to practice M/W/F from 4-7 right after school. She basically only has time to get a quick snack and change into her leotard.

You can tell the boys were super excited though!!!

Poor baby cried herself to sleep and I didn’t have the heart to wake her. I knew she’d get used to her crazy schedule, but gave her a pass on the first day of school.

I’m happy to report that we are now in full school mode and back to our normal programming! The “brunch babes” have resumed our middle of the day monthly meetings…

…and the kids have resumed their after school playdates!

I also have to document that we’re now at the age where we can leave Brooks and Ellis home while we quickly grab a bite to eat (with Shep) at the sushi restaurant at the front of the neighborhood! Don’t worry the kids can reach us on their iPads in case of an emergency and we’re literally a minute away!

I also have to document Shep’s nightly sleep walking. He is literally dead asleep, you can’t talk to him or wake him. He just walks around crying like he’s lost, sometimes uses the restroom, and then usually just heads upstairs and goes back to bed. He put on a show this time and it was cracking me up. Yes, his sleep walking scares us, but we’re not too concerned yet, and just hope and pray he grows out of it soon!
