We got home from the lake on Tuesday, did laundry, repacked, and caught an early flight on Wednesday morning to Durango, CO. The Cisneros’ had a layover in Dallas, so we got to meet up with them for our flight! Ellis was in heaven getting to sit next to Maddie!

The besties reunited! Love that we all get along so well! Shep fits right there in the middle of everyone too!

We flew into Durango and then drove to our air bnb in Purgatory, which was only about 30-45 minutes from the airport! I feel like we found a hidden gem. The mountain was close to the airport, the runs were awesome, it was WAAAYYYY less crowded, and kids under 12 get free lift passes!

The view outside our window in the living room!

Getting the “POW POW” boys hyped and ready to go!
All the kids immediately got dressed in their ski gear and went to play in the snow!

Day 1 at the foot of the mountain with the whole Dimneros Gang!

The Julie’s had to get our boots fixed, so we got to ride the first lift of the day with no kids!!!!

I ALWAYS say we can NEVER base our ski trip off of the first day. Everyone is always grumpy, hangry, cold, and tired at first, and then it gets easier. We were all swearing off the cold and saying we were definitely doing a beach trip next year, but then by the last day nobody wanted our trip to end. Ellis refusing to put her skis back on, shouting she was NEVER ever skiing again, and rolling down the hill sums up how our first morning went, lol. At least we got a good laugh out of this…
A little break with some hot chocolate and treats for the kids and some adult beverages put everyone in a much better mood!

We decided to divide up the girls and boys after our little break!

Ellis redeemed herself after swearing off skiing for the rest of her life, lol!
It was starting to sleet these hard snow pellets, so the 3 littles and the moms decided to call it quits a little early….

The big boys and the Dads shut the mountain down and stayed until the lifts closed at 4! Brooks was shredding on his snowboard and loving every minute of it!
When the moms and littles got back to the house, Julie took a nap, the littles played outside, and I got to enjoy my book by the cozy fire in the peace and quiet!!!!

It started to snow pretty heavy so the girls came inside, while this crazy kiddo braved the blizzard for hours!

Nope!
Sun finally came back out and the snow stopped! It’s crazy how it went from heavy snow to sunshine within minutes almost every day!

One of the many snowmen Shep built!

Big boys finally got back from the mountain and wanted to play in the snow too!
It snowed all through the night, so the lifts were delayed for Day 2, which means we got to sleep in! I came out of my room to this beautiful scene in the living room! I LOVE that Ellis was bold and confident enough to just rock her beautiful bald head in front of everyone!

Finally dressed and ready to tackle Day 2 on the mountain!

A little family pic in front of our gorgeous air bnb while waiting on our shuttle to pick us up!

Let’s go!!

We pretty much divided up by Julie and I taking the 3 littles, and the Dads taking the bigs. Ellis, Shep, and Maddie were rocking those blues by Day 2! Julie lead the way and I held up the rear!
We had lots of snow and then sunshine again all throughout the day…

I can’t believe we let the girls on a double lift by themselves, yikes! They did great through!

So glad Daddy has his snowboarding buddy!

2024 POW POW crew!
Late lunch time!

Girls were done after lunch, but Shep wanted to go up the mountain one last time!

We found the cute little houses for Shep to ski through!
The girls went shopping and bought these adorable matching sloths!

Our entertainment while we were waiting for the shuttle…
Our entertainment back at the house, lol…
Best Daddy ever playing “Garbage” with the girls!

Day 3 was our off day, so we drove to Durango to take this gorgeous 5 hour train ride through the mountains!

We thought 5 hours with no tech was going to be brutal for the kids, but they did awesome for the most part!

The conductors / tour guides were awesome!

Checking tickets!

About 30 minutes into the ride they let you get up and move between the train cars!

Shep was eating popcorn in the middle of this pic, lol.

Brooks and I spotted Shep and Daddy in the open train car at the front!
We all eventually made our way to the open train car!

Brrrrr, it was cold, but those breathtaking views were worth it!

It’s crazy how close we were to the rocks!

We kept going back and forth between our warm seats and the open train car!

So many beautiful creeks through the mountains!

Yikes, so close to the edge!

Brooks (and I) definitely reached out and touched the mountain! Don’t worry, we were going super slow!

Pit stop near the river!

Dimneros!

💙💙

The awesome Train Conductor!

Snowball fight!

Snowball fight part 2!
My handsome Mountain Man!

My handsome littlest man!

Cave right in the middle of the mountain!

Stunning overlook so close to the edge!

Shep was in awe!

Gavin has his thumbs down, but he loved it! Such a cool experience for all of us!

We did a late lunch/early dinner and some shopping in Durango before heading back to Purgatory!

The kids were pretend playing with all of their stuffy souvenirs when we got back to the house!

Ready for Day 4 and our last day on the mountain!

Well most of us were ready!

Not so patiently waiting on the grown ups, lol!

Let’s do this Dimneros!

My whole world!

I didn’t get to see Brooks a lot, as he typically stuck with Daddy since they both snowboard, so when I did, it was so fun to see him shred!
Finally all the Dimmick’s on one lift!

Purgatory had so many trick jump spots! Thankfully the kids just did the hills and not the ramps!
My big baby!

She might not like hugs, but she loves to cuddle up in our laps!

Switched it up to the dads and girls and the moms and boys on the lift!
Then it was back to the snowboarders and skiers!

I was trying to video Brooks coming through the house and Adam came barreling in front of me and did a trick jump!
Girls were done early again, so I had the whole last hour with Shep all to myself!

He wanted me to video him coming down the “trick hills”!
I got the very last second of him coming through the trees and doing a front flip. I almost peed myself once I realized he was okay. Gosh, this kid is going to give me a heart attack!
Adam having a little refresher at the base!

Another one of Shep’s snowmen!

Shep wanted me to video him up on the hill going through the trees again! He was so excited he landed coming through the trees this time!
Getting Mommy’s refresher nice and cold!

Steak dinner for our last night!

Get in my belly!

Soaking up all the snow and sledding they can!

I love Brooks, lol!
Look at those GYATT’s! (Kids term these days for big booty, lol)

Breakfast at the cutest diner before our flights!

So sad our Spring Break had to come to an end ☹️

These cuties were so excited they got to sit next to each other on the flight home too!

I’d say “Dimneros Spring Break 2024” in Purgatory, CO was our best ski trip yet! No car keys were lost, no rental vans slid down the hill, no ice boulders went through our windshield, and there were absolutely no broken bones! Everyone got along great, we had gorgeous weather, perfect powder conditions, the most beautiful train ride through the mountain, snowball fights, snowman building, random dance parties, yummy food, hours of playing in the snow, and countless memories upon memories made with our best friends!
