PK with the Lowry’s and Van Aswegen’s, VBS, Harry Potter, and Barbie

Got home from Kalahari late Wednesday and left early Friday to head to the lake with our friends the Lowry’s and VanAswegen’s! Trying to soak up every last bit of our summer! Scarlett is one of Ellis’ BFF’s and an insanely talented gymnast! I think she gave Ellis the push and desire she needed to try out for team! This is her sweet pup, Frankie, that we sometimes dog sit for and who is also Otter’s BFF! We had so much fun with our friends, but this was by far our most eventful trip ever, with so many random mishaps….

Scarlett’s Dad, Ty, and Adam’s golf guru!

The boys!

Max is Scarlett’s little brother and the one that has his arm around Shep. He’s 4 years old and obsessed with Shep. He calls him Hep-herd, and it’s the cutest thing ever!!!!

Beautiful sunset with Cristin and Jen!

Playing “Go Fish”

Finally heading down to the lake on Saturday morning…

How many kids can you fit on one boat?!?

There were 13 of us, but it was surprisingly cozy and not too crowded, lol!

The day started out great with us jumping off the cliff and anchoring in Hell’s Gate….

…but then, the anchor came loose and the rope wrapped around the propeller locking the boat up. This AMAZING family next to us let us borrow their really. sharp knife to try and cut the rope from the propeller. Adam and Jeremy took turns holding their breath, going under water, and cutting away at the rope bit by bit. They were making lots of progress until Adam accidentally dropped the knife, oops.

That same AMAZING family was nice enough to us tow back to the nearest marina!

The kids were so good and patient with our little hiccup!

Just hanging at the marina, eating snacks, and feeding the fishes…

…While the guys finish cutting the rope from the propeller

Everyone was SO helpful and SO nice to us! We definitely sent a few people some generous gift cards to thank them for all of their help!

Back in business baby and ready to have some fun!

Cristin even got in on the fun!

Her face in this action pic cracks me up!

Jen used to be a make up artist at Nordstrom, and was giving the girls make up tips. Her son, Easton, watching them is the sweetest!

When I say this was the craziest lake trip ever, I mean it! First the boat, then Adam spotted this Copperhead on our side walkway. I know we’ve seen lots of snakes, but this was the closest we’ve gotten to a venomous one! Yikes!

We had 3 dogs with us, and were scared to death to let them outside!

And last but not least from our “eventful” weekend was Shep’s face plant off the back of the golf cart. Adam and I didn’t see it (thank God), Mr. Jeremy was driving, but apparently Shep was standing on the back and fell as soon as he took off. Poor buddy caught the concrete with his face. Praising God he just had a busted lip, a cut under his chin, and some other minor bumps and scrapes. Shep learned the hard way there’s absolutely NO standing on the golf cart! Max was SO sweet checking on him and Ellis had the idea for all the kids to write him “get well soon” notes. I just love these precious kiddos and their hearts! After a little medicine, a few bandaids, and some ice, Shep was all better!

The next morning the guys played golf while the moms took the kids to the pool…

After lunch our friends left, and we headed to the lake for a little bit of family fun!

Daddy let the kids “drive” the boat for the first time!

Then we went to the Golf Club for dinner.

Still so handsome, even all busted up! Poor buddy!

Headed home on Monday from the lake so Ellis could go to VBS. She didn’t get to go to pine cove church camp like the boys, because of gymnastics, but I was able to find her a VBS that was in the evenings! It was at the church Shep went to preschool at, and she was even able to find a friend to go with her!

She had lots of fun learning about Jesus, and of course made a few new friends!

I FINALLY got the kids hooked on Harry Potter, and I’m so excited!!! All the hours and hours of traveling in the car this summer was the perfect time to listen to the books on audible. We finished the first three books and are watching the movies after listening to them. All three kids prefer the books to the movies, and the obsessive reader in me is bursting with pride!!!

Ellis and I and a few of her friends also went to see the “Barbie” movie. I. couldn’t resist getting us matching sweatshirts for the movie ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ž!

It was a funny/corny movie for the adults and had a “good” message for the girls, but I could’ve done without the hidden digs Disney put in there toward conservatives and America. Thankfully it was over the girls head and wasn’t too over the top. Raising kids this day and age with all the junk and evil out there sure is tough, but I know Jesus is alive, and is still working in the hearts of His believers. We can’t shelter our kiddos from everything, we just have to do our best to help them filter out all the junk, and pray they keep their hearts filled with the spirit of Jesus!
